The Alzheimer Society of Lanark County will be hosting a Concussion Awareness and Safety Event in Smiths Falls, Ontario on Monday, September 26th, 2011 from 6-9pm at the new Smiths Falls Community Memorial Centre. We are very pleased to announce that we have two amazing guest speakers: former NHL star Mike Bossy and University of Toronto Assistant Professor of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy and head of the BrainFit Lab Dr. Michelle Keightley.

Mike Bossy will be discussing his experiences in the NHL as well as his personal history with concussions. He will also be holding a photo session for all guests at the end of the event. Dr. Keightley will be addressing the impact concussions have on the brain, identifying signs and symptoms of concussions and giving guidelines on when players should be allowed to return to play.
